The mosques of the Liverpool City Region occupy an important and historically significant role in the rich faith tradition of the city. They are diverse in terms of their congregations, surroundings and activities in which they engage however they are united by a common purpose which is to benefit the communities they serve. When mosques work together on common issues they contribute even more to society, which is why councils of mosques exist in many other major cities. As a Network, we share resources, expertise and good practice to help mosques flourish and grow by building the knowledge and capability of mosque committees, imams and volunteers.
In the current climate, it is more important than ever before for mosques in the Liverpool City Region to come together with a single voice and a unified approach in engaging with statutory bodies and the faith, voluntary and community sectors. In so doing, we hope to maximise engagement of the Muslim community within the community cohesion; equality & diversity; and health, social and economic inclusion agendas.
